Migraine overview
A migraine is a headache that can purpose intense throbbing suffering or a pulsing sensation, typically on one facet of the head. It's often accompanied with the aid of nausea, vomiting, and excessive sensitivity to mild and sound. Migraine assaults can closing for hours to days, and the discomfort can be so excessive that it interferes with your each day activities. For some people, a warning symptom viewed as an air of secrecy takes location until now than or with the headache. An air of secrecy can consist of visible disturbances, such as flashes of mild or blind spots, or different disturbances, such as tingling on one thing of the face or in an arm or leg and concern speaking.
My experience-Doctor appointment tomorrow, what CGRP med should I ask for?
I’ve never used CGRP migraine meds. I’ve only ever had sumatriptan as an abortive, which works wonderfully, but I try not to use it much since it does cause rebounds.
For preventatives I’ve tried amitriptyline, nortriptyline, Topamax, buspirone, Wellbutrin, propranolol, Effexor, and probably a few others but I can’t remember. I’ve had migraines since I was 5 (hereditary), so I’ve been given a lot of preventatives in the past.
Buspirone, nortriptyline and propranolol worked for a little bit, then stopped after a few months. Amitriptyline was great for my migraines but gave me a crazy high HR and anxious feelings.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people using CGRP preventatives and having success. I want to try them, but I’m scared. 😅 I don’t want more migraines, or intense side effects.
Any reccs would be amazing since I see my PCP tomorrow!
