My experience-Med advice help (lyrica/gab/topamax)

Hi all! So pre op gab worked for my migraines (I’m not sure if coming off made them worse?)

Right before surgery I took 8 months to water titration off gab. Made it finally.

Post op one month out worst migraine of life and hospital stay. Then a couple that lasted a week then chronic for 5/6 weeks full sensitivity light sound etc.

Tried injections, triptans, Botox, occipital nerve block(the numbing helped!)

I know gab at 300 3x a day for my nerve pain kept the migraines away. Just tried lyrica last night and not sure about the side effects if they are better than gab or not. (I do feel more coherent but didn’t sleep and overheated for a few hours)

My doctor wants to review my not great neurologists notes. I have a list of meds from this forem. From my research topamax is actually the same type of med as gaba/lyrica in that it’s anti seizure and since that seems to be what works for me I was thinking about it. I refused it before because of the side effects of suicidal ideation as I already had intrusive thoughts coming off gab and a hard time till I started the water taper (then if was only mildly uncomfortable withdrawals).

Any experience with topamax, gab, lyrica or something else that worked for you if these worked but we’re not tolerated and something else was :) ?

Really trying to get my life back post op and hopeful for a solution (and that my migraines are either my nerve pain/disc in neck and misalignment I’m working on or a rebound from surgery meds).
