My experience-Persistent Aura vs Visual Snow Syndrome

I have had VSS since I can remember, but it was very mild, I never noticed it for the most part. Recently I got much worse symptoms, the floaters/flashers are much more noticeable, it harder to look at screens, the “static” is thicker, and the tinnitus is louder too. It’s been like this for almost 5 days now. On the second day I got an eye exam but they said my eyes were fine and told me that I have VSS.

I started getting migraines randomly last year. Around that time I either got tinnitus, or it got worse (I started noticing it). I would sometimes get visual auras that’s looked a lot like what I’m experiencing now, and during my migraines my tinnitus would get louder (like it is now), I also didn’t always usually have much head pain, if at all.

I’m wondering if what I’m experiencing now is my VSS getting worse, or if I could have a prolonged aura? When my symptoms started, I had not eaten very well or slept very well for a couple weeks, and had been staring at the screen all day, which is what would trigger my migraines. I haven’t had a migraine in months because they seemed to get less easily triggered over time, but maybe since I had done it for so long it triggered a silent migraine with persistent aura ?

Is there any way to tell?
