My experience-Migraine makes me realize how alone we are in our own heads.

Earlier this week I was having a terrible migraine, and I found myself in the bathroom, staring bleery-eyed into the mirror, desperately hunting my face for some sign that reflected how extreme my internal pain was. I don't know what exactly I was looking for (I was a bit delirious I think).

But the whole left side of my head was on fire and I felt like there had to be something - a contracted or dilated pupil, blood, something that someone could look at and understand what I was experiencing inside.

But there was nothing. Anyone passing by would think I was perfectly normal.

It's not often that disconnect between external appearance and internal experience of consciousness is so extremely apart, or how truly alone we are in our own heads.
