My experience-Tracking all head pain, did I always have a constant headache or is it new…?

Recently started PT for migraine/cervicogenic headaches, and part of my “homework” from the neurologist was to track all head pain, where I was previously only tracking what I believed to be migraines. This is where I don’t know if I just got really good at ignoring a “normal” headache to where I underestimated the amount of headache days in a month, or if the PT exercises are just aggravating things enough to keep me in a near constant “background” headache.

I’ve gotten headaches a ton going all the way back to childhood. I didn’t even realize that it was abnormal to have frequent headaches until I was in college. This is also about the time that not all headaches are created equal, and some where indeed migraines. (Of which I believe I also had as a kid). I don’t take a lot of meds for head pain, because a) I learned to just live through a lot as I was fearful of taking meds too often, b) having learned about rebound headaches from frequent med use. So I’m fairly certain it’s not rebounding.

Is it possible to have a headache that is just always there and I didn’t realize it until I started paying attention? Would the pain ceasing for an hour or so be considered a new headache (for tracking purposes)? Or is it more likely just just a side effect of PT?
