My experience-Have you switched from Emgality to Qulipta, Aimovig, or Ajovy ?
Hello! History: I’m currently on Botox and Emgality for prevention, Frova for menstrual migraines, and Sumatriptan/Prochlorperazine as abortives. Nurtec and Ubrevly didn’t help much as abortives. My migraines drastically reduced with Botox (I was daily chronic migraines). I didn’t think the Emgality was doing much, but I had an issue with insurance causing me to take it two weeks late last month and I had 18 migraine days instead of 5-6 so it’s obviously helping a ton! 5-6 migraines a month I can live with, the problem is the last few weeks before Botox is due I’m back to daily migraines. I’ve done terribly on all the oral preventatives I’ve tried (propanolol, lamictal, etc) so she thinks my best option might be to try a different CGRP inhibitor to see if it’s even more effective than the Emgality.
Now here’s where I’d love to hear from some people: obviously knowing that it’s helping quite a bit I’m nervous to switch. She’s recommending Ajovy, Aimovig, or Qulipta. She’s letting me decide. I know everyone is different - but has anyone else switched from Emgality to one of those and what was your experience ?
