My experience-To those who use Chinese medicine / acupuncture for migraine.
What have you learned?
This (TCM/ acupuncture) is the modality that has helped me most in all other health issues throughout my life. I use it for preventative care and had results in all other areas when I’ve had a crisis or challenge. These include asthma, menopause, Lyme disease, ovarian cyst in my 20s, stress.
My migraines are random and sneak up on me regardless of whether I’ve been careful to avoid triggers, hydrate, sleep enough, etc. They always begin in the wee hours of the morning (like 2-3 am), worsen through the day, are nauseating and usually result in vomiting.
I react very poorly (poisoned-feeling) to most pharma and am seeking to really focus on my headaches with my practitioner. Migraine is the toughest nut to crack though my acupuncturist is helping somewhat.
I’d love to hear from others who have a basic grasp on Chinese medicine principles as to what they understand about migraines, whether needles or herbs have helped, what you’ve learned about your imbalances and triggers, etc.
I’m female, 57 years old. Thanks!
