My experience-Eye pain after successful-ish? Botox treatment.

Hey there! About a month ago I started Botox injections for chronic migraines after not being able to tolerate topiramate and other treatments being unsuccessful.

After the botox injections I had a migraine like attack that lasted about 3-4 days. Had nausea, pain, general discomfort, wondered if it was worth going through with it and wanting to die. You know, the usual.

After that and some lingering soreness in the injection sites I noticed improvement in the form of less frequent “oh no, here comes a migraine” events and also improved tension headaches which I had almost daily that would sometimes progress to migraines.

Other than not being able to move my eyebrows and having extra bitchy resting bitch face that was it for the first couple of weeks.

Now I’ve been noticing that I get what feels like a migraine coming but it never progresses to the unbearable pain and nausea phase. Kind of just like an annoying baby migraine.

So far I’ve only taken abortive migraine medication once and tramadol once, both because I wasn’t home and I didn’t wanna deal with a potential impairing situation. On both these occasions the pain was more severe and the typical localized pounding feeling.

But now I’ve been experiencing eye pain which at first I thought might have been inflammation due to another condition I suffer from (ankylosing spondylitis). The pain feels similar to uveitis and I’ve had this sensation before like “here comes a flare up” when I overexert myself or I miss a Humira shot.

However I’ve noticed the lack of eye redness and that the pain is more strong when I move my eye rather than when I see. I know that sounds weird but if you’ve ever had uveitis you’d understand what I mean.

It always starts while im asleep, one day I’ll be fine and the next I wake up and my left eye hurts like a MoFo. The first time it went away in a day or two, this time I’m on day two and it’s as bad or worse than it was yesterday.

Has anyone experienced a similar thing? I don’t have a neuro appointment until next year and I’m unsure if I should go see an eye doctor instead.
