My experience-I need some help please. I just want relief
Hi. 24f. Diagnosed with MDD, ADHD, GAD, and migraines. I’ve been suffering with a migraine daily with severe pain and vertigo for 2 months now. My neurologist prescribed me Namenda 10mg 2x/day and Nurtec every other day, and we just added Ajovy to it too since that combination wasn’t doing anything.
Previously I’ve tried Topamax, but it made my hair fall out, propranolol made my migraines worse, Aimovig and Emgality didn’t do a thing. I’ve been told I can’t take amitriptyline and other TCAs because of the psychiatric medications I take. Even with my psychiatrist, I’ve always been extremely sensitive to medications and would get severe side effects, most commonly tremors that don’t respond to anything other than discontinuing the medication to blame.
My problem is, the pain has gotten so severe I can’t even function. I’m just managing to get by at work, but it’s beginning to pile up since I can’t even look at the computer without more pain. My neurologist doesn’t even know what to do anymore. I tried to talk to her about going out of work, and she just said all she’s do is provide me with accommodations, which is great but not what I feel I need right now.
I went to the ER Friday because the pain was so bad. I got to receive the IV cocktail, it didn’t do a thing. Before the ER visit, we tried oral steroids, and oral Toradol, both of which provided extremely temporary relief. The ER tried IV steroids, IV fluids, and IV magnesium, none of which worked either. They eventually just released me, basically saying I had no purpose to come to the ER.
I am in so much pain and just want to be able to function. I can’t keep living like this. What else more can I do?
Edit: I forgot to add, MRI, CT, VEMP, and VNG were all negative. MRA and MRV results pending. And I have a phobia of needles so Botox is out.
