My experience-Chinese medicine?

My Dad, Mom, and Stepmom are all coming together to help me tackle my chronic headaches/migraines. Which is good. Recently went to the neurologist and was given an upped dose of my Topamax since my current dose of 50 mg was no longer working. I broke down and cried during the appointment because I'd been fucking miserable with these headaches for weeks.

So, Dad wants me to try Chinese herbal stuff and acupuncture and try gradually weaning off medication. I don't know how to feel about it, not acupuncture as I am familiar with it but weaning off medication. I don't want to go off Topamax because it helped a lot before the 50 mg wore off. Ideally I'd like a combination of medication and Chinese remedies-a happy medium. Dad and stepmom aren't big drug people. They also think that all the medication I am on- anti-depressants, is why I'm fatigued all the time-and want me weaned off of them.

If this Chinese medicine helps with these chronic daily headaches and I can do normal things like watching a movie or reading a book without being miserable I'll take it. Bur I have reservations.

I honestly don't think they believe in taking anti-depressants and think therapy is a crutch. I do think I struggle with anxiety and depression, but because of the chronic pain. The reason I started taking then in the first place isn't an issue anymore. I am willing to try going off the anti-depressants because I agree they could be making my fatigue worse, but I am definitely going over it with a psychiatrist first,

Anyway, I don't want to stop all medication, definitely my Sumatriptan as it's been a lifesaver when I've had a migraine.

I don't know how to feel about any of this. Thoughts, insight, experience, anything would be appreciated! Thanks!
