My experience-Little things that can help reduce migraines esp for women

There is already lots of information on triggers and things to avoid to prevent migraines, but I wanted to make a post here of some little things that I noticed reduced the number of migraines I get that are more specific for women that I don't usually see on those kinds of lists. They might seem dumb and insignificant, but it might be worth trying even if it reduces frequency a little bit!

Most of my migraines I think are triggered by stress and neck/shoulder pain. A couple years ago, I finally got a pixie cut that I was always afraid to try. Getting rid of my long hair and various hairdos helped reduce the number of migraines I would get! I think it had something to do with the carriage of my head being different when I had long hair versus being free when it was cut and out of my face.

Another improvement to my neck/shoulder tension was to stop carrying around a purse or backpack. I used to take a purse with me full of everything I might need anytime I went out. I changed to a phone case that carries cards and I can fit just one or two keys in my pockets, and everything else I used to carry in my purse I keep in the car. I noticed not having this extra pressure in my shoulders or using my arm to have to hold it in place also helped reduce the number of tension related migraines I would get in a month.
