My experience-Insurance and med struggles 🙃
Oof I’m so annoyed. My insurance has had me on a roller coaster trying different meds since they decided that emgality wasn’t necessary. So I tried ajovy. Nightmare - it was like not being on a CGRP inhibitor at all. Now I’m on aimovig. I have IBS-C anyway and apparently constipation is a very common side effect.
During my last virtual appointment my neuro said please keep me updated on how you’re doing if you have any side effects. So I sent in a message today saying I’m having constipation that is worse than normal. Every 3-4 days is normal but it’s hard to eliminate and I can tell not everything is coming out. I got a call from some rando tech saying well just take stool softeners and eat more fiber and hydrate. Like? I have migraine friend I hydrate constantly. I don’t know maybe it’s just me but I don’t like interacting with new people in my doctor’s office because they just assume I’m stupid.
My big issue is also I was told to keep my doc updated and this person seemed very dismissive. I’ve read research about the gut and brain being connected and I don’t think stool being compacted in my gut constantly it’s really going to help things. My neuro was out of office today so hopefully when she gets back in on Monday I’ll actually get some decent feedback.
