My experience-Spouse charged $1400 for Ubrelvy
Hey there, my wife was recently charged $1400 for Ubrelvy after recently being prescribed it by her neurologist.
We've never been in this position so I'm not quite sure to where to go or what to do. Past migraine medication has always been around $30-50 at most, and I'm going to assume her neurologist didn't intentionally prescribe her medication that would cost that much.
We have pretty good insurance through Cigna (as good as Cigna can be). I also looked up the wholesale cost of Ubrelvy and even at most they have it listed at $937 for the wholesale cost, but describe costs of $0-24 across most insurance options, or even if you don't have insurance.
Should I bother contacting Cigna (who literally never respond)? Should I reach out to the neurologist? Should I try and contact the Ubrelvy manufacturers directly? Just wondering if anyone has been in this position for and came up with a decent solution that doesn't involve lawyers and a whole lot of money just to spite the medical system. Thanks!
Edit: Talked with Cigna and my wife went to her pharmacist, apparently she has a savings card but CVS can't ring it up since they're seeing a $0 dollar charge for it at the store, but Cigna is claiming that CVS made a claim with them for $1800 and they generously bumped it down to $1400. There's a glitch in the system somewhere or someone is lying between CVS and Cigna, so hopefully can get that sorted out.
