My experience-Migraine frustrations

I have had migraines for years, and taken sumatriptan, which didn't really help. I went back to my doctor recently, and he prescribed Amitriptylin to prevent them, and Nurtec to fight them. He gave me samples of Nurtec to take home. The Amitryptiline has done a good job preventing them, and I'm down from daily, to maybe 1 or 2 a week. I ran out of Nurtec, and now my insurance refuses to pay for it. 900 dollars for 4 pills, just so I can function on migraine days.

I called my doctor, he appealed, and they still denied. He is switching me back to a Triptan, which didnt work to begin with.

Who is the insurance company to say i dont need something when my doctor says otherwise? I thought we were making headway, and now i am so discouraged. I did try the coupon from the website, but it only pays for 4 every 50 days, and will only do it for a few months..
