Short courses of steroids do wonders to break status migraines for me, but as I am deep in one and have brain fog like crazy I can’t rememeber how long it takes for them to help 🥲. I’m on a 3-day course of decadron (12mg, 8 mg, 4mg taper). I hirt but I don’t wanna rip my eyes out yet and it’s past dinnertime, they must be helping?

If using steroids to break a migraine is new to you, keep it in mind next time you have a really bad one and are considering the ER. My neuro is great and will prescribe them to me via a message or phone call as long as I can show it’s not going away despite me doing all the right things (like not overusing my rescue meds).
