My experience-Nortriptyline vs propranolol
I've been getting heartburn with nortriptyline more often than before—I've been on it for two years and only had 1 dosage increase, but the last few months I've had heartburn about 50% of the time. My migraine and aura frequency and intensity have been up and down a bunch during that time, so idk if it's effective, and Ubrelvy has been the best (abortive) medication.
I asked my neuro if there were any issues with taking Tums and Pepcid as often as I was to treat the nortriptyline heartburn.
He wants me off nortriptyline now and to switch to the beta-blocker Propranolol.
I'm curious about anyone's experience with a medication switch like this. I'm a bit nervous about the low blood pressure (I get lightheaded with migraines anyway!) and weight gain side effects.
