My experience-Insurance Triptan Quantity Limit Increase?

Presumably on Jan 1, my insurance (in the U.S.) changed from allowing 9 to 18 triptan pills a month. They never inform of those sorts of changes, positive or negative. I had been paying out of pocket to get more than 9 a month as I've had a rough few months. That's been the limit for as long as I've taken triptans.

I only found out as instead of calling to get a refill and telling them I wanted to pay out of pocket to get the full 15 my doctor allows per script, I inadvertently requested a refill on the app when doing other refills. I hadn't been bothering to get insurance to pay for 9 while I pay for 6 as it wasn't too expensive and I figured that would be a pain for the pharmacy.

It went through insurance for the full 15. So I checked online to see why, and found the quantity limit had been increased. This is a great reminder to check from time to time if there have been any changes. Such as with the formulary (meds added or removed), quantity limits, prior authorization requirements, etc. Note if for example your triptan script is currently for 9 but your insurance will cover more, you'd need to get your doctor to update your script for a higher quantity. Has anyone else seen their insurance triptan quantity limit increased?
