My experience-Topamax or something else
I’ve been taking Topamax 200mg for about 3 years now without any side effects really. I have always been forgetful long before taking this drug. My husband and I could be a block away from the gas station and he would say, “make sure you pull up to the pump so we can get gas” and I’d tell him ok, but as soon as i pull in that parking lot (in less than 5 minutes, lol) i pull straight into a parking spot. He would just sit there looking at me and I’m looking back trying to understand why he’s looking at me like that. So forgetfulness has always been a problem.
Where I’m at now… After being on this drug for 3 years, my husband and daughters have noticed that I am having serious problems with word recall to the point where they are finishing my sentences for me. I am constantly losing my train of thought during a conversation and forgetting what we were talking about. I am always repeating things or asking my husband the same questions all the time. I forget to take my medicine at least 3 days a week. I’ve always told people you can talk to me about anything and never worry about me telling anybody because I’m not gonna remember anyways. They don’t realize I’m not kidding. I just don’t understand why after 3 years this would all of a sudden come up and tbh I don’t think thats what it is and that’s what scares me. Alzheimers and dementia runs in my family. My grandmother on my moms side had dementia and my mom was in the process of being diagnosed with Alzheimers when she passed away. If anybody else has had the same experience please let me know!!
