My experience-Weeklong migraine, writing from the ER

I have had a migraine for literally a week. I called our nursing advice line today who counselled me to go to the ER to get some medication to break the cycle. Okay, off to the ER I go, with a 2.5 hour predicted wait. It has now been 5 hours. I can see that the EMS folks have brought people in and they are calling codes; that's obviously acceptable.

Some of what has happened is just nonsense though! They called this one guy, he wasn't in the waiting room. Called his name three times. Later he swaggered up to the nursing station to ask how long it would be. They asked who he was and informed him that they had called him, three times. "Oh," he sez, "I went to go get something to eat." He's holding a Subway bag. "What is the problem?" The nurse asks. "I got stabbed," he sez, showing a crude bandage on his other hand. The nurse tried to explain that you need to hang around to get treatment, not go get takeout, but I think it was lost on him. They still took him next lol.

So I've been in this loud, bright, place where I can't lay down and I just want to bail and go home to my quiet dark room, but I have five hours of sunk cost now. I hate going to the hospital for headaches!!
