My experience-Recurring sharp pain

I’ve been having migraines for the past year or so but over the past two weeks I have been having sharp pain on the left side of my head about an inch above my ear and slightly back. The stabbing only last for 5-15 seconds but then I have a dull soreness in that area that feels like pressure. It became bad last night and has been the same today. I had a doctor appointment a month ago with my provider and she had me close my eyes, and stand. She also did a lot of push against me, push my hands, ect. She doesn’t think an MRI is warranted because she said everything appears okay. Has anyone experienced this? Did you have an MRI to determine there was no underlying cause? I have a follow up appointment with her in a week.
