My experience-Saw neurologist, don’t know how I feel
Hey so I (24F) saw the neurologist today. I’ve had a 7 day long migraine and I’m living in fucking hell. He said I’m having a huge rebound headache that will likely last a month or longer. He prescribed me a Medrol taper and said if I get any weird side effects like mood changes or difficulty sleeping that I should immediately stop it. He also gave me a few samples of Nurtec and Ubrelvy and said if I’m still in pain after the steroid taper that I should stop taking them. He said if I’m still in pain after the taper and headache med samples, than I should go to the ER or go to urgent care and get an IV drug cocktail and request that the headache med in the drug cocktail shouldn’t be a triptan.
I don’t know how to feel because I’ve had new migraine symptoms which are sensitivity to light, sound, smell, nausea and full body twitching. I also have new triggers which are light, sound and smell. He didn’t seem too concerned about that which made me uneasy. All he said was to follow up in 3 weeks.
Should I get a second opinion? I’m also trying to schedule an MRI right now.
