My experience-I feel helpless and stressed as a spouse.

I hope partner posts are ok here.

My wife and I have been together for 15 years. I love her like crazy, no doubt about that. She’s always had migraine issues, and is currently seeing a neurologist after years of me encouraging her to.

I hate seeing her in pain. Right now in the past 45 days she’s had maybe 7-9 where she hasn’t had mild to severe headaches.

I love her, and want to help. But can’t.

And it impacts everything. What we do, fitness, running errands (she can’t shop), and what I can cook. She often can’t cook right now.

I’m the only one with a job, too. Our finances are fine, but we could be better if she was able to work.

I don’t resent her, but I just feel so overwhelmed doing so much by myself.

She expresses gratitude for what I do. But I just feel so alone sometimes- anything can be a trigger for her. Smell, exercise, sleeping oddly.

I feel like a failure because I can’t buy us a house on my salary alone. I feel not enough of a man/husband, and I don’t feel I can adequately express my own stressors and issues without sounding like I’m blaming her.

What can I do better? What more can or should I do to be more supportive?
