My experience-Botox Wearing Off Early

I’ve had migraine and tension headaches for years and have had some success with imitrex for the migraines but the tension headaches are awful. I’ve had three rounds of Botox, the last only six weeks ago and I have a had terrible migraines and tension headaches this week. Insurance will only allow every 12 weeks and does not allow any “shot” medicines while getting Botox. I am on amitriptyline, tizanidine, and propropanol as preventatives however at this point I don’t feel like they are preventing anything so I want to quit them. My neurologist just prescribed me Nurtec and I am taking it every other day. It seems to be helping a little but my whole head is sore almost every minute of the day. I’m female, only 40, have active kids and I work full time ( from home thankfully) I don’t know how I can continue on in this pain. It makes my anxiety and depression spiral. I’m wondering if the Botox is even worth the pain anymore.

For those that have received Botox treatment:

  1. When does it wear out for you?
  2. Are you in pain when it wears out?
  3. Is the pain from the Botox wearing off worth the relief you get ?

If anyone has any ideas or tips, I’m desperate. Thank you 🙏
