My experience-At my wits’ end - any ideas?

My history in brief: 57(F), hormonal migraines since early adulthood, completed menopause approx 3 years ago, and migraine frequency decreased significantly. Was always responsive to triptans, no aura.

Other medical history: hypertension, treatment-resistant major depressive disorder.

Last March I developed a very weird headache that has not gone away. Sometimes it is less intense, but frequently it is 8 or greater on a scale of 10. I feel the pain primarily at the top of my head. CT and MRI were clear. When the pain is minimal, it almost feels like a really deep itch. At its worst, it feels like my head is being crushed in some kind of medieval torture device.

I did 6 months of Aimovig with no benefit. Topomax gave me hallucinations and disorientation. Even though the neurologist agrees that it’s not migraine, I’m doing Botox. I’ve had one treatment( for which my coinsurance was $900!) and have my second scheduled on 10/3. Nothing has given me any relief; I don’t even take any OTC meds anymore.

I can’t find any descriptions of anything like what I’m experiencing anywhere and the doctor doesn’t seem all that interested because I don’t fit neatly into one of his boxes.

So, does the collective mind of this sub have any ideas? TLDR: I’ve had a headache for 18 months nonstop and it’s not migraine. Thanks in advance.
