My experience-How to get MRI results?
Yesterday I M19 went to a new Neuro for my headaches and dealt with the typical rude front desk receptionist who demanded I paid her before even talking to me. (Had to get a parent to stop work to talk to them since I am a dependent on the Insurance)
Saw the doctor for 5 minutes, Said he wants me to get an MRI with contrast, and EEG, He said to just walk next door to the Open MRI clinic, and do it right now. But then the receptionist said to go home and wait for them to call me to schedule an appointment, I lived 30 minutes away so I said I would prefer to do it now as the doctor told me 30 seconds ago, But she shut me down. I went home, decided that was BS to not even give me a date from her, Called the Open MRI building Literally next door, The receptionist was astonished they sent me home and said I should have just walked in. She insisted that I come back and do the test right then, so I did.
Drove 30 minutes back, did the Test (With contrast, oh god that was miserable)
asked when I would get the results from the tech, and got the runaround. "They will probably call you.
Today, I decided to call the neuro back and ask if they can give me my results now. Again, that same receptionist "We don't tell you until you are here for your next appointment. which is almost 2 weeks away. Is this normal? I mean I am not asking for a full in-depth run down, But you could at least tell me there isn't a Brain Tumor, or I am not having a Stroke would be nice. I even said that to her.
She said to me this morning, "If it is something deadly we will call you on Monday"
WHO SAYS SHIT LIKE THAT IN HEALTHCARE?
Is there anything I can do? I thought about calling the MRI place, and seeing if the radiologist could talk to me. I do not know where else to ask this question. I figured other people might have similar experiences.
