My experience-When to visit doctors for migraines?

I've had migraines since the beginning of high school, which is about 8 years now of having them. I only puked once in my life because of it and that was also a long time ago. My record migraine days is four. And I have typical migraine, like, one sided pain, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to sudden movements, sensitivity to loud noise, sometimes nausea. Also my both parents have /had migraines since I was a child.

Okay the problem is that even though I had mine since forever, my mom recently showed concern about my head and wants me to go to scan it and what so. So does my bf who never had a migraine. I'm so used to this pain I probably get around 5-10 times a month if not more and I don't see why I should go.

So my question is when to visit a doc because of migraines?

Sorry if this was long for no reason, I felt like I should describe my experience.
