Migraine overview
A migraine is a headache that can purpose intense throbbing suffering or a pulsing sensation, typically on one facet of the head. It's often accompanied with the aid of nausea, vomiting, and excessive sensitivity to mild and sound. Migraine assaults can closing for hours to days, and the discomfort can be so excessive that it interferes with your each day activities. For some people, a warning symptom viewed as an air of secrecy takes location until now than or with the headache. An air of secrecy can consist of visible disturbances, such as flashes of mild or blind spots, or different disturbances, such as tingling on one thing of the face or in an arm or leg and concern speaking.
My experience-Treatment for breakthrough migraines
I have my migraines (w/ aura, status migrainosus) under control for the most part. Magnesium glycinate 400-500mg, riboflavin 400mg, FL-41 glasses, daily exercise, caffeine 200-400mg and ADHD/bipolar meds are how I usually manage.
However during the 1-2 weeks before my period starts the migraine (minus speech-related aura) manages to get through all of this. I get prodrome symptoms (extreme sensitivity to smell and light, nausea, increased fatigue, brain fog, etc.), followed by intense throbbing due to PMS worsening just about everything. I run out of energy to exercise when it gets to this point too.
I take pain relief meds (Advil x3 usually, recently prescribed Sumatriptan) as early as possible once the headache hits but it just comes back the next day even stronger. I really don’t want to keep taking pain relief meds 4+ times a week since I have a feeling the headache is partially due to rebound and the risk of stomach ulcers.
Are preventative meds worth trying? Any other suggestions? Tired of having to let my manager know several days a month that I need to spend a bit of time away to rest and pushing off household chores over the weekend :(
