My experience-Adventures in headache relief, part II: Starting Imitrex

I posted here not long ago about my doctor starting me on propranolol and diclofenac for chronic headaches. After almost a month on both and having nothing to show for it but weight gain from the propranolol and what I thought were renal disease symptoms on the diclofenac (just side effects, nothing serious), my doctor now wants to try me on Imitrex along with an increased dose of propranolol at the same time.

I'm a little worried because I'm also on amitriptyline and most things I read about Imitrex say that people on anti-depressants shouldn't take it or should take it with caution because of the heightened risk of serotonin syndrome, but then I also read that Imitrex and amitriptyline do not interact with one another at all. I'm not sure if only certain anti-depressants react with Imitrex?

Also not sure how it will affect me since I don't have an official diagnosis of migraines - I just have constant headaches that don't respond to anything. But my GP wants to have me try it, presumably for one month, and then she said if that doesn't work, she'll refer me to neurology for further evaluation.

I'm nervous about taking it because I see a lot of people have bad reactions to it (but it also seems to help a lot of people too). But I see it's not supposed to be used to treat tension headaches, which I think is what I have, and it also seems to be something you don't take on a daily basis, but rather a few times a month? I'm not sure if this will be right for me to take for daily headaches.
