My experience-Acceptance is important

I used to beat myself up over my migraines. I used to cry and be angry and have lots of why me moments. Why is this happening? What did I do? What am I not doing? What's going on in my body? I also used to do the thing where you go down the path of how your whole life is never going to be anything. I can't always be at work, I can't always clean, I can't always hang out with my friends, I can't always enjoy the entire vacation. I can't do what other people that don't have this thing on their back can.

Then, a realization hit me- I can't keep being so MEAN to myself. What is it helping? The reality is, none of that matters. This is the card that I got dealt, so I'm gonna do what I can with it instead of asking why I didn't get a different one.

You have to accept whatever is hurting you and give it the space and kindness it deserves. Need a rest day? Take one. Want a coke after it's over? Drink one. Sad today because that's what chronic pain does? Let yourself be a little sad. Need to make frequent trips to the doctor? Book them. That's okay! Just remember that there's a bunch of different parts that make you as human up and this is just one of many! This is your life and you can live with it if you just give yourself the space and the patience to do so. To give yourself that, you have to ACCEPT your migraines. You have these, and that's what it is. Treat yourself how you would treat someone else in the same position. Give yourself the support you give other people in these threads.

I hope you're all doing okay, despite what you may be going through and what it may feel like in the moment! I appreciate this community and wish the best for you all.
