My experience-Aimovig & heart palpations
My most recent Aimovig 70mg injection which was taken two weeks ago, brought me to the ER less than an hour later. I was sitting on my bed when out of the blue, I felt like a piano landed on my chest, my heart started racing & the side of my neck felt like it was going to burst open. I thought I was having a heart attack, it was certainly no panic attack or anything I have ever felt before.
I have been taking my injections for 5 months & they had been an actual miracle for me. Bringing my monthly migraines down to the single digits. Something I haven’t seen in over 20 years, sans pregnancy. Never had a side effect other than a little bruise or soreness. I think I was actually on here a few weeks ago spouting off in comments, my love of this med. :(
The ER doctor said that with his findings this side effect was normal & many woman my age (40s) experience palpitations with this medication. My heart finally calmed down to a semi-normal rate & my blood pressure leveled out. They released me within the hour after finding nothing out of the ordinary with an ekg & blood draw.
I have felt fine ever since.
Has anyone here experienced anything like this with Aimovig? If so, did you continue your medication? I’m not sure if this was an allergic reaction, side effect, or what. I also am unsure why it would happen after taking the medication for so many months without incident.
