My experience-Advice on Topomax for migraines with minimal headache component?
Hey guys,
I just got back from a visit to my neurologist. I have a pretty rare form of migraines that I cannot recall the name of at the moment, but the headache component is a small component of them. It's pretty rare I experience it as the primary symptom I experience and typically it's only in the morning and they go away throughout the day.
My doctor prescribed my Topomax/Topiramate and I've read some previous users mention the side effects before. I haven't used it yet so I'm kinda of the mind that I shouldn't worry until I do, but some of these side effects seem to be my primary symptoms.
For me, the biggest symptoms of my migraines are severe brain fog, forgetful, dizziness, and diminished coordination. Brain fog seems to be a very, very common symptom for people with this medication.
Secondly, anxiety seems to be a side effect too although slightly more rare. My migraines frequently present anxiety for me as well, so if this replaces the cause for my symptoms instead of correcting them I don't think I'll be very happy on this medicine.
Anyone have experience with the medication already and have advice on what I should look out for?
