My experience-Testosterone levels prove to be lower in men with migraine disorders
I recently met with an endocrinologist and discovered my testosterone was very low (248). She prescribed Clomid to stimulate testosterone production. I've been migraine free for two days now since starting this treatment. I haven't been migraine free since a couple of weeks last September. It's been a daily phenomenon since. I have been through 3 rounds of Botox, I've had Occipital nerve blocks done, I've tried a long list of meds, failed all of them, and currently I'm taking Qulipta and Nurtec as an abortive. No real help there. But the past 2 days taking Clomid have been pretty much pain free and manageable.
The study I'll post in the comments discusses in detail how hormone levels affect migraines, cluster headaches and tension headaches in both men and women.
The takeaway is that the migraines are not causing hormonal imbalance per se, but testosterone levels are significantly lower in men and women who suffer with headache disorders.
I highly encourage everyone to have these levels checked, especially men. Low testosterone causes a long list of problems, and seems to play a role in headache disorders.
