My experience-Exertion headaches

Chronic migraine sufferer here for more than ten years. Not on any prophylaxis at the moment as I'm currently seeing a neurologist for a new treatment plan, but the admin stuff is slowing it down so I'm going more and more insane with the constant pain. Such a relief to find this community of fellow sufferers.

The latest addition to the pile is sudden, excruciating pain beginning in my neck while exercising. It happened once before while lifting weights and I ended up in the ER. Got the all clear after lumbar puncture, CT scan, etc. Happened again today in a class while doing a group exercise which meant I couldn't stop and sit down.

They're terrifying because they come on so quickly and painfully and it really feels like something is wrong - even though everything I've read about them says they are benign. Does anyone have any experience with these? Do they respond to other treatments? How do you prevent them in the first place? Exercise is one of the few normal things I try to do to keep depression under control, so stopping it entirely isn't really an option...

I'm just so frustrated and angry and ashamed that my body can't handle normal activities. The pain is bad enough, but the constant feeling of worthlessness is almost as debilitating.
