My experience-How to get out of this rebound cycle
I've been on Menograine (Clonidine) and Yelate (Duloxetine) for my migraines and chronic pain for about two months. I don't know how well they're working but I'm giving it some more time.
My migraines are triggered by light, smell and hormones, but lately I feel like they've been triggered more easily by things that didn't trigger them before, like skipping meals and coffee.
About two weeks ago I went out for the day (it's summer here) wearing a hat, sunscreen and my tinted glasses. Unfortunately it coincided with my "period" (I'm on birth control for my hormones, and typically my miragines are worse off birth control). I got took Migril and paracetamol, took a nap, and took a dose again after the recommended amount of time before going to bed. The next day felt like a migraine hangover postdrome, but then the day after another attack started. Its lingering in my right eye and base of my neck and I'm so so tired.
In the middle of last week I took Maxalt and it worked great. I felt completely drained the next day but then felt better for about 4 days. But with my migraines being triggered so easily lately, it started up again a few days ago and it's just not breaking.
I only have 2 Maxalt wafers left and they are so expensive here (South Africa), and I'm flying soon and I don't want to use them up.
I thought my spirulina was triggering my migraines but it didn't really make a difference when I stopped taking it for a few days or when I started again. I did read they can cause migraines but I've also been taking it way longer than this rebound cycle has lasted. I wondered whether Menograine could be backfiring on me? Or maybe it's just end of year burnout?
Any ideas how to break this cycle?
(I can't take ibuprofen.)
