My experience-So the rizatriptan helped treat my migraine, but...

...the side effects were awful. I felt sooo dizzy and I had a bit of chest pain. Even after eating foods that were easy on the stomach before taking the medicine (a banana and a piece of toast) and drinking quite a bit of water, somehow gastric distress got to the better of me anyway. Thankfully I didn't throw up, but I definitely dodged a bullet given how nauseous I was. I haven't experienced nausea like that in years. To those of you who always experience nausea during a migraine attack...I am so, so sorry for you. I wouldn't wish nausea like that upon my worst enemy. I'm not sure if this is a common side effect of rizatriptan, but after I took it, I almost immediately had to use the bathroom and had frequent bowel movements in the span of 45 mins, which briefly exacerbated the nausea.

Laying down with a heating pad on the highest setting and drinking small sips of water helped quell the nausea, and now that the medicine's no longer in my system, I feel much better and my migraine is gone (yay!). I'm very relieved I only had to take one pill in order to treat it. But I'm hoping I won't have to take it again for a while, because that was truly awful.

This subreddit has been such a blessing–thank you again for all the advice and to those of you who recommended I talk to my doctor about being prescribed a triptan med. I'll let him know about the side effects I experienced and see if I can find a different medicine that won't cause as many side effects as the rizatriptan did.
