My experience-I've been feeling better...should I wait until I'm bad again to start new treatments?

So I have chronic daily headaches that are normally a 2-7 on the pain scale. I started seeing a headache specialist and at my 1st appointment she gave a a treatment plan of increasing my magnesium supplement (from 500mg to 1000mg), taking B2 vitamin, and topamax as a preventive. She also prescribed several acute meds for me to try. The topamax gave me some of the worst/longest headaches I've ever had so she had me stop taking that. I met with her again and she is trying to get pre authorization for emgality, and she also referred me to a diff doctor to evaluate my neck and potentially get nerve blocks.

So I am currently only taking the supplements while I wait...but I feel the best I've felt in a long time. I still have a minor headache/neck pain, but it's only a 1 on the pain scale and I usually don't even notice it unless I start thinking about it. It's been two weeks off the topamax and I have only had one "bad" headache which nurtec knocked out very quickly-- normally I get 3+ a week.

Is it possible that the supplements are enough to help my pain? Should I tell my doc I want to wait to start emgality/see this other doc to see if I get worse again? Or should I go ahead and continue with the treatment plan to see if it knocks out my pain completely? I'm kinda worried about trying too many things at one time because I won't really know which one is working.
