My experience-Dental fluoride treatment as a trigger
I'm curious if others find that fluoride treatments at the dentist will trigger migraine attacks?
As a kid, the flavoured foam trays almost always left me feeling rotten afterwards. And as an adult, the sodium-fluoride rinse (similar to mouthwash) would reliably lead to a prodrome, sometimes reaching the headache phase.
I reminded my dental hygienist of this when I was in for a cleaning yesterday and she suggested trying the painted on fluoride treatment instead. She said that most patients don't like it because of the way it feels on one's teeth, but I figured that was a only minor inconvenience when compared to finding a dark room and popping a Zomig in an hours time. Sure, it didn't taste great, but it didn't trigger a migraine either. Yay!
