My experience-Botox withdrawal?
I am in some desperate need of advice, feeling really frustrated here.
I've had migraines since I was a teenager, but they've gotten worse over time to the point where I was diagnosed with chronic migraine a few years ago.
I take sumatriptan, which works really well to stop the migraine pain when I twje it soon enough, but leaves me feeling exhausted and foggy. I have been getting Botox for migraine for about three years.
The issue is, I don't went to continue with the Botox treatments. While I think they may have reduced the severity of my migraines a bit, they didn't do anything for frequency, and having Botox for three years has really changed the shape of my face. The objections in my maceter muscles have really shrunk the muscle there and made my face really narrow, which I don't like. I also have a recurring issue with my smile being impacted by the injections, and I'm not able to smile fully. My doctor is able to avoid this most of the time but every so often I end up smiling like Chandler for 3 months.
I am now two weeks past when I should have gotten my last Botox injections and I've have six migraines. They're brutal. My jaw is constantly aching. Is this just some sort of "withdrawal" symptom as the muscles that have been paralyzed for 3 years are now waking up? Will this pass? Has anyone else stopped Botox injections and can offer some advice?
Any other ideas for how to manage migraine pain that is muscle tension related? I already take a ton of magnesium, I can't take topomax and amiltriptalyne didn't work for me. Nothing seems to be working and I'm so frustrated.
